Instrumentation
How many members are in the Paul Connors Band?
We offer musical entertainment from solo piano to full dance band. Paul works closely with each client to asses the type of event, and by listening to the needs and plans of the client, Paul offers the appropriate number of musicians and instrumentation for each stage of the event.
A cocktail hour may have solo piano, piano and singer duo, piano, guitar and drums, or a piano trio - with piano, upright bass and light drums.
A dinner party might have the same instrumentation as above, depending on the size of the event. Perhaps a client would like to add a saxophone at this point in the event.
A dance portion of an evening is more than likely when there will be the most musicians hired. Usually, There are 9 musicians in the full dance band. This number can be subtracted, or added to, depending on the client's vision, and budget. This instrumentation is: 2 female vocalists, 1 male vocalist/saxophonist, 1 male vocalist/guitarist/keyboardists, 1 male vocalist/ bassist, 1 keyboardist/backing vocalist, 1 guitarist/backing vocalist, 1 drummer, 1 saxophonist.
Repertoire
You have a lot of songs! Can I pick and choose from your list for my event? Absolutely! In fact, we encourage for you to do so. A well planned event only helps to ensure a relaxed, and smoothly run evening.
How do I pick?
On the Homepage, there is a Repertoire Icon. Click on there, and you will be sent to the Repertoire page. There are three separate lists to choose from: Solo Piano, Instrumental Music, and Vocal Repertoire. We are more than happy to assist you with song choices for your event. We will work closely with you to match our repertoire with the theme and mood of your event.
Solo Piano repertoire is listed alphabetically.
Instrumental Music repertoire is listed alphabetically. This can be with piano, upright bass and drums, or piano, guitar, and drums, or piano, bass, drums, guitar, and saxophone.
Vocal repertoire is separated by each lead singer. Each singer's repertoire is alphabetized, and spans many genres of music such as jazz standards, swing, country, classic r&b, soul, and rock.
Requests
Do you do requests outside of your repertoire?
Yes. We are happy to play songs outside of our repertoire for an event. We ask that a client please limit choices to 5 special requests, and that the requests please be made 1 month before the event.
Continuous Music
Is there live music playing at all times during the evening?
No. However, the Paul Connors Band is known for their one 20 minute break during a 4 hour event! During this time, music is played through our sound system. We are not your "45 minutes on, 15 minutes off" band. Once we have you on the dance floor, we are not going anywhere - and neither will you!
Attire
What Does your band usually wear for events?
We strongly believe that appearance and presentation is as equally important as our music. We will always defer to the client's opinion as to what would be appropriate for the event, whether it be formal wear (tuxedo/cocktail dress), or semi-formal (suit and tie/basic black), or a theme party. We will always dress appropriately for the occasion.
